Update the Legal Name That Appears on Your Certificate
Certificates print your full legal name, which is stored separately from the first and last name shown elsewhere in the app. Here's how to update it.
Steps
- Click your avatar in the top right corner and choose Settings.
- On the Profile page, edit the Full legal name field. This is the name used on official documents and ID verification.
- Click Save Profile.
Every certificate you earn from now on will show the updated legal name.
Next Steps / Troubleshooting
- Certificates capture your legal name at the moment you complete a course, so certificates you earned before the change keep the old name. If a past certificate needs a correction, contact us through the support widget in the bottom right corner of the screen.
- New to Essential CEU? You're asked for your full legal name on the "Complete your profile" screen the first time you sign in, so double-check it there before starting your first course.
